Specific ThumbPRO Questions

As always, if you need any help, please contact us here.

The ThumbPRO is a revolutionary ergonomic design, which sits comfortably on the hand, does not move around, no more fidgeting like the others out there on the market! We designed it that way--for you and your game. We are the most comfortable design that protects against bat sting and adds velocity to your swing.

ThumbPRO helps in a couple of ways; firstly, it acts as a kind of spacer to get the bat out of the palm of the hand and up into the fingers. This helps avoid the "death grip" where too much hand and wrist tension robs the player of bat speed. Second; the curved upper surface acts as a type of fulcrum, or pivot point for the bat to rotate around during the swing helping to optimize swing speed. By protecting against bat sting, it allows the player to be at the plate with confidence without worrying about getting jammed. You can't get better than ThumbPRO! Try it out and see for yourself!

There are many MLB and MiLB players that use ThumbPRO and the list is growing every day. Take a look and drop us a line of who you see wearing ThumbPRO in the major leagues: info@baseballthumbguard.com

Yes! We have a lot of youth players wearing ThumbPRO and they love it. Many younger players also tell us how using our thumb guard gives them confidence at bat because they no longer worry about bat sting and can concentrate on their swing without that worry. We have also been told that when younger players go into the batting cages--with the ball coming at them stronger and faster than it might out on the field--that they are very glad to be sporting a ThumbPRO! We offer a size small that fits most youth. Contact us with sizing or other questions: info@baseballthumbguard.com

As a guide, use a string or ribbon around the circumference of the thumb, measured in between the base of the thumb and the first knuckle.

L- 2 3/4"  circumference (200-210lb & over),

M- 2 1/2"  circumference (generally between 130-210lb),

S- 2 1/4"  circumference (130lb and under).

These are general guidelines

If in-between sizes, we generally recommend going with the smaller size for a secure, snug, performance fit.

It is really personal preference.

If you have any questions about fit, feel free to contact us here. We are happy to answer questions if you are trying to decide between sizes.

General Baseball and Softball Bat Sting and Bat Position Questions

Some fun facts and interesting information about bat sting, and how baseball and softball thumb guards help with proper hand position and how they help alleviate bat sting.

When a fast ball travelling 90 miles per hour makes contact with the bat traveling at 70-80 miles per hour in the opposite direction the collision can result in up to 8,000 pounds of force. That force can create a shockwave that travels down the bat and into the player's hand, resulting in a very painful sensation known as bat sting. Thumbpro is designed to absorb that shock so you don't have to.

Generally, the sweet spot on the bat is at about 5 and 7 inches from the barrel end of the bat. The sweet spot  is the location for maximizing how far the ball travels after being hit.

Higher bat speed produces more kinetic energy in the bat so that when contact is made with the ball it translates to a higher exit velocity and the ball will travel farther. For every one mile per hour increase in bat speed the ball will travel approximately 6-8 feet farther in distance.

The ThumbPRO helps position the bat up in the fingers which unlocks the wrists (avoiding the death grip), opitimizing your swing dynamics for increased bat speed.

The ThumbPRO baseball thumb guard is simply, hands down the best thumb guard you can get. We have have specifically engineered and designed our thumb guard to enhance the batter's grip technique resulting in more power and better consistency at the plate. Currently used by many major league hitters the ThumbPRO keeps the bat more in the fingers so the bat is in the correct hitting position at all times. ThumbPRO offers comfort and an ergonomic design. Many major pro players have made the switch from their previous baseball thumb guard to ThumbPRO because they love the comfort and ergonomic design--it serves them well in their game, so why would they--or you-- choose to use anything else?
