Born From a Real Problem, Engineered for a Purpose
ThumbPRO® started with a problem every hitter knows all too well: bat sting.
That sharp, painful vibration when you get jammed or catch a ball off the end of the bat can leave your hand buzzing long after the swing. For younger hitters especially, repeated sting can also affect confidence at the plate.
Engineer and inventor Craig First approached it by looking at what was actually happening at impact: how vibration travels through the bat and into the hitter’s top hand, and how the hand interacts with the bat.
He also recognized a second problem the design needed to solve: staying securely in place during and between swings.
So he engineered ThumbPRO® around the hand, the grip, and the swing. Its patented ergonomic saddle-shaped design fits naturally on the hand, with side flaps that help hold the guard in position and a curved upper surface that allows the bat to rotate naturally through the swing.

Yes. Little League® updated Rule 1.10 A.R. 2 for the 2026 season to permit thumb protectors in Baseball and Softball. ThumbPRO® is worn on the player’s thumb and does not attach to or alter the bat.

Can ThumbPRO® be worn with batting gloves?
Yes. ThumbPRO® can be worn with or without a batting glove. Batting glove thickness can affect fit, so players should consider it when choosing between Small, Medium, and Large.
Do professional baseball players use ThumbPRO®?
